For the Congolese community in Greater Austin, the need for local resources and active involvement has always been a priority. However, there was a gap in this area, with no organization fully meeting these needs. This is where ACSD steps in, uniquely positioned to address these needs. We want to clarify that we are an independent organization, not affiliated with any political party.
ACSD, a locally owned nonprofit foundation, was established in 2024 to fulfill the strong but unmet needs of the Congolese community. Our core values include helping our Congolese brothers and sisters who are from the Republic of Congo and live in the Austin area, thoroughly engaging in the community, and liaising with
community members in Africa as well.
We volunteer and actively participate in charity events in Austin. Our organization also hosts social events and activities to promote the uniqueness and beauty of Congolese culture. We are dedicated to building a support network for each other. New volunteers can contact President Melanie Otemoyolo. We want our presence to be known in the Austin area and be a resource, much like a Christian mission.
Our organization is proud to be multilingual, with members who speak French, Lingala, and Kituba, the native languages of the Republic of Congo. We also have members who serve as translators/interpreters. We are actively seeking individuals who can speak other languages to further enhance our ability to serve the diverse Congolese community in the Austin area.
